i've got the fabric

IMG_7832_fabric.jpg

so what are we going to make next?

i'll have a wrap up of the craft-along results as soon as everyone gets their act together...(a-hem, mb...)

but it begs the question, what to do this round, project two?!

i know. i saw it on someone's bag and i thought i NEED that. then i found it in Jo-annes of all places. i might have to get more on my next trip to CT. i can send you some...

what about a tissue box cover for home? i think i've been wanting to make one of those. or i could make a tutorial on my makeup pouches and we could sew those...hmm.

Jo-Anne's?! They must stock better fabric at yours than at mine. i have the hardest time finding amazing fabric's. I thought you must buy it all on-line or at specialty shops.

i'd be up for either of those...but the tissue box cover sounds difficult.

and i second jana about joann's. i can't imagine mine having that print (and ours is HUGE!), but the next time i'm there, i'm going to search for it.

I like the idea of makeup pouches, that sounds simple enough that I could attempt...or maybe a simple skirt for summer? I saw a great tutorial for making a skirt out of a tablecloth (or fabric) using an existing skirt as a pattern.

sorry, i am so behind. but, i LOVE that fabric. i need to get a time to go to joAnn's by myself so i can really look through the fabric... I always end up having to rush out of there.

Thought about it, we should make aprons. Simple square, really, could even be half aprons (the kind that ties around the waist.) simple gathers and maybe a pocket.

as a non-sew-er and a non-participant in this fun project i LOVE the fabric!!!! i agree with MB on the apron or something else that will really show off the fabric. can't wait to see what you creative kids come up with!

um, yes to the half-apron idea. that's my real vote! i think i could pull that off, and it's something i've been wanting to try, anyway.

Hey, don't knock The Joann's!! I saw a Michael Miller fabric at our Joann's recently that I happened to know was out of print, even! It was on their regular "keepsake calico" wall, not in the "designer" fabric section (because, apparently, Michael Miller is not WORTHY of the designer section???!!!) (or maybe the worker-bees just don't know who Michael Miller is!!) It was slightly more expensive than the regular fabric, but no more than what I paid online for it.
Tink, who is the designer/what is the name for your lahverly pattern?
As for the next crafty craft-along, I'm up for whatever. I'm not sure I'm such a big fan of the apron right now, though... :o) My entire belly is pretty much my apron!
A lady in my quilt guild made a "sewing apron" though, with pockets specifically designed to hold sewing stuff, vs. designed for cooking and stuff. I suppose you could make one for paper crafts, too. Or...whatever you want! Maybe, embee, a knitting apron?
